About Maggie Kelley

Hi, I’m Maggie Kelley—a former special education teacher turned advocate, dedicated to helping families navigate the special education system with confidence and clarity.

I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and spent 10 years teaching and case managing students with disabilities, ensuring their IEPs were both appropriate and implemented effectively. I began my career in Northern Virginia, where I’m originally from, before moving to Austin in 2015. In 2019, I had the incredible honor of being selected as a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching grantee to New Zealand. That experience deepened my passion for inclusive education and strengthened my commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.

After my daughter was born in 2021, I stepped away from the classroom to focus on my family. Becoming a parent gave me a new perspective on education, and it reaffirmed my belief that every child deserves individualized support—and that no parent should have to fight for it alone.

Now, I use my experience and training to partner with families, ensuring their children receive the services and supports they’re legally entitled to. I help parents understand their rights, collaborate with schools, and advocate for IEPs that actually meet their child’s needs.

I know how overwhelming the special education process can feel. I’m here to make it easier.

When I’m not advocating for families, you can usually find me making polymer clay jewelry, binge-reading thrillers and romance novels, or spending time with my husband and two kids.
